Children’s Activities

The nurture of children in Christian discipleship is important to us. We do this through Sunday School, Wonder-Filled Wednesdays, monthly events, and children’s sermons during the worship service, as well as by including children in the ongoing life of the church. In addition, we offer seasonal activities such as the Children’s Christmas Pageant, Easter Egg Hunt, and Vacation Bible School. Our nursery (birth through preschool) is available Sunday mornings.

Youth Activities

We are pleased to have a youth director plus dedicated members to encourage our teens to grow in faith. Our middle and high school youth enjoy fellowship, study, worship, and service. Activities include Sunday School, Sunday night meetings, Wonder-Filled Wednesdays, and special outings and retreats. A week-long mission trip has been a summer highlight. Sixth graders are invited to participate in the confirmation class led by our pastor.

Young Adult Activities

Our young adults enjoy occasional fellowship, learning, and service activities.

Adult Studies

Currently two adult Sunday School classes meet weekly. The Wonder-Filled Wednesday programs include a potpourri from guest speakers, to pastor-led studies, to a talent show finale.

Women’s Activities

Presbyterian Women (PW) meet monthly in one of our three circles for Bible study, fellowship, and service. On the first Monday of each month, Circle I meets at 2:30 pm, Circle II at 3:00 pm, and Circle III at 7:00 pm. The Morning Circle meets the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 am. Women in our congregation (including those who haven’t formally joined) are encouraged to attend the circle that best fits their needs. In addition to meeting, the circles provide flowers for Sunday worship, bereavement meals, kitchen help at church events, and support for a child at Thornwell Home for Children.

Mission and Service

The congregation supports ministries that are local (e.g., United Christian Ministries of Abbeville County), regional (e.g., Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina, Thornwell Home for Children), as well as those our denomination sponsors. Nearly ten percent of our budget goes for mission outreach plus what is given in a half a dozen special offerings through the year. On the first Sunday of each month our members bring food for the community food pantry, on the second Sunday of each month we bring wooden pencils and dry eraser markers, or other school supplies for Mary’s Closet. We also collect staples and sundries for Faith Home and Hospice, sponsor a yearly blood drive, send youth on mission trips, pick up trash (Adopt-A-Highway) on Cambridge Street Extension, and volunteer in many charitable organizations.
